Smoke Visible on South Coast is due to Permitted Burning, By Christina Atchison
Jan 11, 2022 at 05:51 PM
Smoke may be visible across the South Coast due to pile burning. Today (Jan. 11) is a permissive burn day in parts of Santa Barbara County. There are several permitted burns occurring south of us in the Toro Canyon area as well as at Bailard Ave. and Stanley Park Dr. in Carpinteria.
We appreciate all the calls to our South Coast Dispatch Center & our community’s wildfire vigilance. Please know that the smoke you are seeing today is likely from these permitted burns. You can view a map of permitted burns across the county here: https://bit.ly/3FiYdxR
Remember, it is still possible to have wildfires during the winter months. We encourage you to continue to reduce flammable vegetation around your home & property. The Ready! Set! Go! guide has great tips on how to do so safely. Check it out here: https://bit.ly/3kjXju6
