District Governance

Board Meetings

The Montecito Fire Protection District Board of Directors meets on the third Monday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the conference room at Fire Station 91, 595 San Ysidro Road. The Board may also schedule special meetings at other times when needed and will post advanced notice according to the Brown Act.

Election Procedures

The Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters office manages elections for the Montecito Fire Protection District. Elections are in November of even years. Terms of office are four-year staggered terms.

Board Members

The Board of Directors is responsible for governing the Montecito Fire Protection District. The Board currently consists of five Members, each of which serves a four year term.

Subcommittees

A subcommittee is a 2 member subset of the full Board which meets to oversee specific ongoing subject matters of District activity and make recommendations to the full Board. Subcommittee meetings are considered formal public meetings and subject to the Ralph M. Brown Act. There are currently three standing committees in the Fire District:

Director Compensation

The Board of Director's compensation rate was established by Ordinance 2001-01 at an original rate of $105 per meeting, allowing the option to increase compensation annually by resolution, in an amount not to exceed $5.00 per meeting.

SB 272 Catalog of Enterprise Systems

SB 272 requires local agencies (excluding school districts) to create catalogs of all enterprise systems that store information about the public, and to post this catalog on their websites, if they have websites. Compliance Coordinator
