Raising Our Light 1/9/18 Debris Flow remembrance event is canceled, By Christina Atchison

After thoughtful discussion, the Montecito Community Partnership Team has decided not to hold the Raising Our Light event this year.
With many community members recovering from the latest round of storms that coincided with the 1/9 Debris Flow date, the team felt it may be difficult for people to attend a remembrance event. The 23 community members we lost five years ago remain on our hearts and were certainly remembered by many on 1/9 as we faced a treacherous storm and evacuations.
The Community Wellness Team, which formed in 2018 to support locals following the Thomas Fire and Debris Flow, remains available for mental health help. The CWT can be reached anytime by calling 805-364-2750.
The Montecito Community Partnership Team includes Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade, Montecito Association, Montecito Journal, Montecito Union School District, Cold Spring School District and the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness.
